We generate carbon in our waste gases. New carbon capture utilisation (CCU) technologies could be employed to capture this carbon and convert it to synthetic fuels or other useful products.
CCU would delay carbon emissions to the atmosphere while reducing the consumption of the original feedstock.
Challenge:
Techniques still need to be developed and demonstrated for capturing and utilising carbon on an industrial scale.
