Metals in the Twin Transition: How to Reconcile Growing Metals Demand with the Zero Pollution Ambition?

On 16 December 2025, from 15:30 to 17:30 CET, Eurometaux will host a webinar on “Metals in the Twin Transition: How to Reconcile Growing Metals Demand with the Zero Pollution Ambition?”

Europe’s green and digital transitions will substantially increase the demand and volumes of metals required for electrification, renewable energy and strategic value chains. This trend raises important questions about current environmental exposure and the future impact of metal emissions. Ensuring access to critical metals—essential for the Green Transition—must go hand in hand with meeting the EU’s Zero Pollution goals.

During the webinar, Eurometaux will present the results of two strategic studies addressing this challenge: the Metals Environmental Exposure Data (MEED) project, which examines today’s environmental concentrations and mixture toxicity, and TNO’s emission projections, which assess how increased metal use may influence emissions by 2030 within key strategic supply chains.

Speakers:
• Charlotte Nys (ARCHE, MEED Data)
• Ivan Vera Concha (TNO, Emission Projections)
• Magnus Buhl Løfstedt (EEA Outlook, TBC)
